Just got back home, and pretty loaded. So no trading today.
The BBQ was cool, lots of ppl from all over. Made some new friends, drunk some new wines, gained new insight into the world and the people that inhabit it. Almost managed to avoid trading and finances alas there were 2 ppl there who are working for CME so obviously there was some trading talk. The other thing I noticed is that once you get an Israeli, a British and a German in the same talking group then it is just a matter of time before the topic of WWII and Nazi Germany comes up. No matter how much you try to be “politically correct” and broad minded it’s just unaviodable. Anyways, t’was a nice evening. And now, sleep.

The day the topic of WWII doesn’t come up is when we should worry.
I know what you mean Zoomie. But not sure how I would feel if I were the German person in the discussion..
I was in a business trip in Poland a few months ago. One of the clients I visited lives just a few kilometers from Auschwitz. He casually invited us for a quick visit in the site as if he was inviting us for lunch (we declined). That was weird.
We all get caught up in our race and nationality. No person should feel guilty just because it was their countrymen that committed an atrocity. I believe it is acceptance of people as individuals that will prevent such events in the future, and lead to insightful, unbiased communication.
