10-month-old gets gun permit

Howard David Ludwig of Chicago owns a gun permit and was even presented with a shotgun by his grandfather despite the fact that he is just 10 months old. His father, a 30-year-old columnist, revealed that his grandfather had gifted the 12-gauge shotgun to his son intending that they would one day be shooting clay targets. He said he filled an online application form and shelled out $6 after which the permit was issued. Howard Sr. said he was not expecting the permit to be issued to the infant nicknamed Bubba.

Weird. Growing up as a kid knowing there’s a gun waiting for you, one of the very first gifts you received, and you already have a license from the government to carry it around and shoot things..

I agree. Another good reason not to live in places like gunless Chicago where the Government feels they need to restrict your rights. I live in Oregon and can do as I please. My 4 kids all shoot (mostly .22) For some reason we have 1/30th the murder rate as gun-free Chicago. I wonder why that is?

    Bubba, get a brain:
Chicago has more than 12000 inhabitants per square miles again 35.6 in Oregon, so even with your 1/30th murder rate, you still end up being 12 times more murderous (once you have linearly considered the density) than Chicago.
More interesting is the following site:
    http://www.statehealthfacts.org/profileind.jsp?rgn=39&cat=2&ind=113
where you can verify that Oregon actually has proportionally more firearms deaths than Illinois (it’s a better idea to compare state to state than state to city).
Anyway, I am not interested in having a discussion about this matter, just wished to put things a bit in perspective.
