Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza – New Images!

July 23rd, 2010 by eyal | No Comments | Filed in Politics

As we all know, there’s a severe crisis in Gaza. Humanitarian aid is sorely needed for Gazans living in unspeakable conditions under Israel’s cruel blockade. New images are starting to come out from that area, which British journalist Lauren Boot, Blair’s sister-in-law compared to a WWII concentration camp and a crisis on the scale of Darfur.

Warning! The images I’ve linked to below are difficult to stomach. Mainstream media will not show them.

More than any other..

This video is quite amazing. In the face of the farce that is the UN and particularly their “human rights” council this is a sobering testimony.

An atypical news item about a typical event

The Associated Press: Israel shells near UN school, killing at least 30

Dr. Bassam Abu Warda, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, said 36 people were killed in the Israeli strike on the U.N. school in Jebaliya. The United Nations confirmed 30 were killed and 55 injured by tank shells.

In a statement, the Israeli army said an initial investigation found that “mortar shells were fired from within the school at IDF soldiers. The force responded with mortars at the source of fire. The Hamas cynically uses civilians as human shields.”

The army said two Hamas militants — Imad Abu Askar and Hasan Abu Askar — were among the dead.

Two neighborhood residents confirmed the Israeli account, saying a group of militants fired mortars from a street near the school, then fled into a crowd of people in the streets. Israel then opened fire.

The residents, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they feared for their safety, said the Abu Askar brothers were known low-level Hamas militants.

Typical tidbits characterising this current war:

1. Palestinians deceitfully exaggerate casualty figures in order to influence world opinion.

2. Hamas terrorists fire and use civilians as human shield.

3. Israel targeting Hamas militants, not civilians. The school was a safe place during 2 weeks of battles till it was used as firing grounds by Hamas.

4. Average Palestinians themselves are terrified of the Hamas.

5. The title of the article talks about Israel killing, not about Hamas terrorists illegal use of civilians and UN facilities, and the tragedy they are causing their people.

Unfortunately for the Palestinians, very few people really care about their fate, most just care about media rating or having another opportunity to bash Israel. In reality, the likes of Aljazeera and world Muslim demonstrations are harming Palestinian’s chance for a state of their own and a normal life by legitimizing terrorist groups like Hamas which answer to Syria and Iran instead of being true to Palestinian interests.

Hillary?

June 6th, 2008 by eyal | 2 Comments | Filed in Politics

I follow the presidential campaigns to some extent and I’m pretty sure Hillary Clinton doesn’t look like the photo posted in the Wikipedia entry of Hillary Rodham Clinton

I don’t get the symbolism, the animals and especially intriguing is the rabbit on the Liberty Bell, anyone?

It’s probably going to be fixed soon so here’s a screen shot.

Political debate

There’s a bit of political debate going on at the Trading Fraternity (this link may be NSFW) about Israel. It’s not all about trading and sexy girls over there ;-) If anyone else has any opinion about the discussion there hope you’ll post a comment.

Thaksin Shinawatra is back

Pictures from Thailand: Thaksin kisses Thai soil

Ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra ended 17 months of exile abroad by falling to his knees and kissing Thai ground at Suvarnabhumi airport. Thousands greeted him with banners and signs but Mr Thaksin said he wanted to be an “ordinary citizen.” (The Manager/Bangkok Post)

Thaksin is Back

I think this is how most Thai people feel about their country.

Will be interesting to see how his case develops, especially in light of the recent elections and the new government here, a factor which no doubt played a role in his decision to return.
