Finding a balance

February 21st, 2008 by eyal | Filed under Day Trading. | Print This Post Print This Post

It was a reasonably OK day yesterday. Just a couple of trades both on the short side, like most people out there today I traded TRAK. I’m less inclined to update every day with specific trades, it got a bit tiring and boring to do that and not of much value to my own trading.

I’m still working on the futures part, it’s on relatively low fire till I get full access to TradeStation and I can do some backtesting of some ideas. In the meantime I continue my usual reading and research. Some of which helped in the last couple of days despite the chop and volume (or it could have been just luck). Anyway I shifted to a lower gear on the work side, can’t put the pedal to the metal for too long. Striving for a more balanced approach now I also increased my frequency of going to the gym. Still got some way to go with the fight against the flab :-)

I was just going to leave a comment wondering why you were posting as much. I’ve managed some good decisions as of late (especially on the 5-min chart) but the natural skeptic in my wonders whether it’s just luck too :) I’d like to think it’s from good analysis, but the market has a way increasing self-doubt. I’m still interested in futures, but I’m not interested in throwing money away. So, I wait for a good entry and take it. Missed a couple lately, but I’m in no rush.

It’s tough focusing on two things at the same time – stocks and futures. Seems to me the right way would be to either decide on one, trade different timeframes or automate one of them. We’ll see how it goes :-)

I hear you… it’s hard to juggle. FYI… on my original post I meant to say you ‘weren’t’ posting as much.

Too late, I took it that I should decrease the frequency even further ;-)

    Bon weekend mon ami.

I wouldn’t mind seeing some posts that cover some of the tools you use, data providers etc. Would be helpful for those readers who aren’t already active traders but keen to learn more.

    Cheers,

Hi JD, I think a lot of this info is buried in various posts but maybe I’ll create one post consolidating the information at some point :-)
