IB meltdown

Seems like there was some sort of meltdown at IB and things were completely shot. I logged in after the close just to check on things and saw none of my long term positions were listed anywhere. All totals and values were correct though so nothing missing (thankfully). Some people were caught in the headlights on this and there are a few threads already on Elitetrader here and here. Had I traded today with my usual MOC orders I’d be screwed.

The official IB message is saying:

To all Traders: Clients may have problems adding symbols to their workspace, we are working to resolve the problem. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience. All other IB sytems are operating normally.

So no trading is possible based on what people are saying but “all other IB systems are operating normally” - what other systems are there? Their website system? Email system? Office airconditioning?

I was seriously thinking of switching my Fx trading account to IB. I will forget about the idea now.

Gav - why were you looking to switch? And why IB out of all the dedicated FX brokers out there?

It was a ‘lazy’ thought. I was looking at a single a account which allows me to trade FX, ETF and Futures. That’s why IB comes into picture.
