Internal clock

My weird internal clock is at it again. I got about 1.5 hours sleep yeterday before trading started at 9pm, that together with the fact that today is Saturday meant I was up all the way till 5am Saturday morning (5pm Friday EST). It wasn’t a bad idea since I managed to squeeze a few extra $ from SMSI taking an additional partial as the market continued to tank towards the close. Anyways, I went to sleep at 5:30am my time and woke up at 3:30pm. I then spent the rest of the day doing absolutely nothing (cooking, gaming, surfing) till at about 2am when I get this urge all of a sudden to start working and review my trades, generate Stocktickr reports etc. The problem doesn’t stop here though since I can already imagine trying to force myself to sleep on Sunday night at 1am, 2am, unsuccessfully all the way till probably 3am just to start another week of being tired.

Melatonin 1-3 mg around bedtime doesn’t work for you? Might be worth a try as it is a hormone produced only when you’re supposed to be in bed.

Did you ever make the switch to trading fully time? I am new to this game – do you think some simple approach such as Mao xian’s dummy approach is enough to get started? I assume that if the dummy approach is the only one used successful non-stopped out trades might bee around 50%?

hey amigo, re the ongoing sleep shenanigans, this link offers some advice that may be of use:

Thanks, Caravaggio. Looks interesting. I’ll have a closer look after I’ve had some sleep tonight ;-) Actually some of the points there were familiar to me (think ongoing shenaningans) and some were new – so thanks. I liked the point about trying to time waking up to coincide with the sleep cycle. I’ll try for 5.5 hours and see how it goes. I had this: http://www.sleeptracker.com/ before but it didn’t work well for me.

ec, I’ve never tried melatonin.. not sure where I would get this here. I’ll check with my doc.

I’m not trading full time yet, I plan on starting to do that some time this year. And to answer your other question yes I trade just dummy setups a la maoxian with some tweaks and mistakes of my own ;-)
