QCharts 6.0 final release is now available for download. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks since I realized the issues with the older QCharts data. Unfortunately though some things were left out of the new 6.0 version, for one the scanners aren’t working the same way. Despite being called the same and using the same parameters they generate different candidate lists with 6.0 being a lot shorter. That’s a major drawback as I use this scanner extensively and catching the right movers of the day is crucial for my style. The other thing left out is float, eSignal never had that data and they don’t care about adding it either, lots of people including myself have been asking for it for years now but adding more markets data and things like forex is a more lucrative business for eSignal. So I wish I could use the older QCharts but alas a small example of the data issues below may explain why I don’t. The first image is from the new version:

And this one is from QCharts older version and servers:

As you can see there are significant differences when dealing with intraday trading. I’ve been trading for over 2 years with QCharts using screwed up data. What I need to do next is make sure I fill in the gap of where the 6.0 scanners fall short (no puns intended).

Hey, if the data is screwed up in a consistent way, maybe your system is already adjusted for that and won’t work with real data :-)
Hehe I thought about it as well. We’ll find out soon :-)
Maybe they have the same problem scottrade does, where they don’t record the volume from anything but the main exchange for the stock. So, scottrade always shows about the right volume “shape” but never the right volume. They have more-or-less told me they are working on it, for about 2 years now.
Possibly that’s part of it, they also have issues with the actual prices as candles are often shaped slightly differently between QC5 and QC6 / other apps.
A real pain in the butt, adjusting to new scanners because QC6’s ones don’t work properly or other tools takes time and harms performance.
Looks like they set the Hotlists count to 50 in 6.0.
Go to View/Preferences/Connection and you can change the setting
back up to 100.
Dave, I’ll try to change that setting. But I can see a lot less than 50 items in the hotlists. I wonder if it’s 50 in total or hotlist or quotesheet filled with hotlists.
Hello
Is there a crossing scanner avaialble for QCharts 6.0?
Thanks
Tim C.
Hi Tim, I missed your comment till now. I’m guessing you’re referring to crossed bid-ask(?), in which case the answer is it doesn’t have that. If I remember correctly Trade-Ideas do have that.
